Internships

• Volunteer Coordinator: This position would primarily focus on helping to recruit and screen volunteers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Duties would include: attending recruitment fairs at local colleges and universities; assisting the interview process of volunteers; screening applications; following up with volunteers after service is completed and other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
• Day Report Assistant: This position would primarily focus on working with the students in our Day Report Center, located in the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education building. The duties would include: working with youth in the program to complete homework assigned by their school; assist in classroom observation; run Boys & Girls Clubs program for youth and other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
• Public Relations/Marketing: This position would primarily focus on working with our Director of Communications and Director of Development. The duties for this position would be as follows: marketing research for the organization; assist in mailings; and assist in fundraising events; website development and other duties as assigned.
• Core Program Assistants: This position would primarily focus on working with the youth at our Club Units. This position would cover one or more of the following areas: Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; Arts and Crafts; Education and Career Development. Within each of theses core area specific programs are run such as SMART Moves, MethSMART, Power Hour, Career Launch, etc.; this position would be responsible for either running a program or assisting in the running of a program.
• Technology Assistants: This position would help with the technological part of our organization. Assist in computer programming, software backup, etc.

Volunteers

• Power Hour Assistants: Volunteers are needed in assisting with our Power Hour program. This program is designed for youth to spend time working on homework for 45 minutes to an hour during their time at the Club. Please speak with the Club Directors to find out their specified time for Power Hour.
• Mentoring Match: Boys & Girls Clubs of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County has formed a partnership with Lutheran Families Mentor Match, currently we looking for mentors and mentees for the program. Please speak with the Director of Compliance for more information on this program.
• Core Program Assistants: Volunteers are needed to help in our five core area programs which include: Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; Sports, Fitness and Recreation; Arts and Crafts; Education and Career Development. Within these core areas, specific programs are run that staff need assistance with. Please speak with the Club Directors to find out their specific needs.
